Team & governance

A geographically diverse team for a global index

Four core leads and three specialist contributors, spanning five nationalities across three continents — with expertise in sustainability data architecture, AI and technology, NGO engagement, communications, financial regulation and ESG methodology.

Why composition matters

The team brings together French, Spanish, South African, Indian and Bulgarian nationals. This diversity is not incidental — it directly informs the capacity to understand the varied institutional, political and ecological contexts in which participating organisations operate, and to design a methodology that is genuinely representative across geographies rather than biased towards Northern or Western frameworks.

Four core leads

Rodolphe Bocquet

Project Director & Methodology Lead

Founder, Re-Manufacture · Zurich, Switzerland · French

A global sustainability leader with over 15 years across private markets, financial institutions and sustainability data businesses. As CEO and co-founder of Beyond Ratings — a pioneering ESG credit analytics firm acquired by London Stock Exchange Group — he built and scaled a 30-person multidisciplinary organisation, defined its sustainability methodology and product roadmap, and established its scientific advisory committee.

Subsequently Global Head of Sustainable Investment at STOXX (Deutsche Börse Group), VP Partnerships & Regulation at Clarity AI, and Director of Sustainability Solutions at Swiss Re, engaging with EFRAG, UN PRI and industry bodies on sustainability standards.

Through Re-Manufacture he has designed the governance and investment framework for a €100M biodiversity strategy and supports a G7 biodiversity initiative. MBA, HEC Paris / NYU; MSc Environmental Engineering, Mines ParisTech.

Alicia Montoya

NGO & Partners Engagement Lead

Head of Industry Development, Swiss Data Science Center · Zurich, Switzerland · Spanish

An innovator and strategic sustainability executive with 25 years across global B2B, B2C and public sector roles, working at the intersection of data science, AI and societal impact — connecting industry, academic researchers and public organisations.

At the Swiss Re Institute, as Head of Research Commercialisation and Director, she pioneered sustainability impact quantification frameworks and transition analytics for regulatory reporting under GRI, CDP, TCFD/ISSB, TNFD, SBTi/SBTN and CSRD — the same frameworks that create demand for a reference signal like EVI.

Chairperson of the Board of United Village Global, a blended finance organisation working on circular construction, clean energy and regenerative agriculture in Africa. MSc Multimedia Systems (London Metropolitan, Distinction); MSc Social Anthropology (UCL); certified in Sustainability and Climate Risk (GARP) and Finance for Nature (IUCN).

Guillaume Thomassin

Technology & AI Lead

Co-Founder, Bakboka · Tech Lead, MPS Global · Zurich, Switzerland · French

A two-time founder with over 16 years at the intersection of intelligence analysis, geopolitical forecasting and technology. Co-founder of Bakboka, an AI-augmented political economy platform that integrates synthetic AI forecasters with a curated network of human experts — a methodology directly relevant to EVI's ambition to create a credible, machine-verifiable environmental signal.

As Tech Lead at MPS Global he leads development of an AI-based forecasting engine for high-stakes policy decisions in fragile and conflict-affected environments — building calibrated forecasting systems under conditions of data scarcity.

Natural lead for the AI Earth Board and the future Earth Voice Pulse phase. Master in International Affairs, Sciences Po Lyon; Master in Information Management, École de Guerre Économique; studied at Georgetown University.

Gavin Montgomery

Communications & Media Lead

Switzerland · South African

A senior communications executive whose career spans financial journalism, institutional communications and corporate brand management. Trained as a journalist, with early editorial roles at Bloomberg LP and Dow Jones Newswires.

Most directly relevant to EVI: seven years (2011–2018) as Senior Manager, Corporate & Financial Communications at Zurich Insurance Company — during which Zurich was a principal strategic partner and co-author of the World Economic Forum's Global Risks Report. He contributed to the communications and positioning strategy that gave that report its institutional authority, global media reach, and annual renewal as a reference document.

Subsequently VP and Head of Corporate Communications at Octapharma. Post-graduate diploma in Journalism, Rhodes University.

Three specialist contributors

Vikas Mohan

Senior Technology Expert

AI Strategist & Product Architect · Zurich, Switzerland · Indian

An AI strategist, product architect and venture builder working at the intersection of AI, sustainability intelligence and practical digital implementation. A former digital agency co-founder with over a decade translating complex strategic concepts into usable products and MVPs. For EVI he supports the design of the NGO portal, internal consensus tool, dashboards, AI-assisted research workflows and prototype systems.

Anna Georgieva

Senior Methodology & Data Analyst

Director, Sustainable Fund Analysis, UBS GWM · Zurich, Switzerland · Bulgarian

Fifteen years in sustainable investment, ESG methodology and natural capital analytics, with senior roles at Credit Suisse, Qontigo (Deutsche Börse Group) and the UN Principles for Responsible Investment. At Trucost (S&P Global) she developed methodologies for valuing natural and social capital and co-authored the Natural Capital Protocol Food & Beverage Sector Guide. MSc Environmental Technology, Imperial College London; CFA Levels I and II.

Anne-Laure Felix

Legal & Compliance Expert

Legal & Compliance Director, Financial Services & Digital Assets · Zurich, Switzerland · French

Eighteen years in financial services spanning institutional compliance, digital asset regulation and ESG law — including fifteen years at BNP Paribas Securities Services, culminating in six years as Head of Compliance for the FINMA-regulated Zurich branch. Deep expertise in SFDR, EU Taxonomy and Swiss climate disclosure. Responsible for EVI's legal structure, data protection obligations and funder-grade governance.

Governance

The structures that keep the index independent

The founding team builds the index. It does not control what the index says. Four structures, established during the MVP, separate operational delivery from methodological authority.

Governing Board

Independent, responsible for strategic oversight and accountability.

Scientific Advisory Committee

Anchored by the academic consortium; validates and periodically reviews the index methodology.

Civil Society Advisory Panel

Ensures the legitimacy and diversity of respondent representation.

Ethics & Independence Charter

Published, governing funding safeguards and conflict-of-interest policy.

The academic consortium is the keystone

Selected through a competitive RFP with a mandatory Global South component and a dedicated CHF 85,000 budget, the North–South university consortium co-designs the questionnaire, reviews the scoring model, and certifies the final score. It adds independent credibility that no in-house team could self-generate — and it publishes its own methodology paper alongside the inaugural EVI report.
